Nov 7 - New $5 and $10 bills
Date Posted: Nov 05, 2013
On November 7, the Bank of Canada will begin issuing Canada’s new $5 and $10 polymer bank notes.
These notes will become available across the country on a gradual basis over the coming months.
All five denominations have the same security features. The new $5 and $10 polymer notes are also the same colour and size as the current paper notes in circulation.
While paper $5 and $10 notes will retain their face value, over the next few years we will be working with the Bank of Canada to help remove them from circulation. At this time, the Bank of Canada is actively removing $50 and $100 paper notes. The $20, $10 and $5 notes will be removed from circulation gradually.
For any detailed questions about polymer notes please contact the Bank of Canada.
