For a number of years, the community of Raymore was without any banking services. For this reason, a few interested people gathered on November 25, 1949 to organize a cooperative credit union. At that time, Raymore Savings & Credit Union had no building. The first business transactions were carried out at the back of the Co-op Store.
70 years later, the community of Raymore finds itself in a similar situation; with a lack of childcare in our community. On March 27, 2019 a group of approximately 25 individuals from the community gathered to discuss the potential of a community daycare facility. With a unanimous vote, it was determined Raymore and surrounding communities would benefit from a Daycare facility. A formal Board of 7 members was created to lead this initiative.
Working together, growing communities is an important aspect of Raymore Credit Union’s vision. Thank you to the members for 70+ years of support, which in turn has allowed RCU to give back to their communities. Raymore Credit Union board of directors & staff are excited to support another community project initiative with the donation of $100,000 to the Raymore Community Daycare! Five years ago, Raymore Credit Union also donated $100,000 to the local swimming pool. RCU believes in their communities and takes pride in the ability to support local organizations. It’s the Credit Union difference!
A quote from 70 years ago: “From a meagre beginning in November of 1949 by a group of Raymore community and district citizens, our Savings & Credit Union has grown into an organization that we can be proud of. I think it can be said that members working and saving together are responsible for a great amount of progress and prosperity in the Raymore area.”
