Please be advised that a phishing email is circulating pretending to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The email message has a malicious link.

Example of phishing email:

Subject: Credit Union
Canada Revenue Agency
Dear Credit Union Client:
Part of your Canadian tax expenses for the year 2016 has been processed and completed and you are entitled to a refund for 836.16 CAD.
To access the secure form for your Tax Refund, please click the below secured link to get started

The link that appears in the email message is very similar to the CRA’s actual URL, making the email appear legitimate at first glance. However, when hovering over the link, you can see the actual URL is not CRA, it is actually directing you to a malicious site.
